Yahya M. Addison is a homeschooling father of four, career educator, and the Director of Dar al-Afia. He is a graduate of the International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement programs and studied history, Middle Eastern studies, and Islamic studies at the University of Texas at Austin, where he embraced Islam and was the first Rappaport-King Scholar in Islamic Studies. Yahya holds a master’s degree in education leadership from the University of Leicester, UK, is certified across the American K – 12 curriculum, and is trained in implementation of the AP and IB programs. For the past 18 years, he has taught and led educational communities in 7 countries, predominantly in the Middle East, where he had the opportunity to study traditional Islamic sciences with masters of diverse backgrounds.
Enrica Sow embraced Islam over 12 years ago and is an avid student of Islamic knowledge. She is trained as a Montessori, Orton-Gillingham, and International Baccalaureate PYP educator with over 20 years of classroom experience in the U.S., Mauritania, Qatar, and the U.A.E. She is also trained and experienced in teaching English as a second language, conducting periodic intensive training programs in the Middle East. A mother and grandmother, Ustadha Enrica thoroughly enjoys captivating read-alouds with children and has recently published her first book for young Muslim readers. She teaches and resides in the Cincinnati area.
Licette Morales has taught elementary school for over a decade at leading institutions in Jordan and Saudi Arabia. She embraced Islam in New York prior to attending Cleveland State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. Before embarking on an overseas teaching career, she managed a homeschool co-op in the Cleveland area. While abroad, Ustadha Licette has had the opportunity to sit with eminent scholars of traditional Islam while also pursuing rigorous training in the field of education. She is well versed in the Understanding by Design model of curriculum development and is a trained International Baccalaureate PYP educator. She has also attended training with the Harvard Graduate School of Education and Columbia University. Ustadha Licette has four children from elementary to university age. She currently teaches and resides in Saudi Arabia.
